DLD alumni preforms final year recital for Goldsmiths College at Deptford Town Hall
Ex DLD student, Mikhail performed his final year recital for Goldsmiths College at Deptford Town Hall on Wednesday 20th May.
Mikhail with the support of DLD staff received a scholarship to study Music at Goldsmith’s in 2015. He invited Peter Hopkins, Head of Creative Arts to watch the recital. Peter commented “It was incredible to see how he has developed as a musician and a pianist in those three years”. He is studying for a Masters degree in Scotland next term. Many of you will remember how he used to impress us at DLD concerts and he didn’t disappoint in his final exam, despite the intense nerves. He gave a completely convincing performance of Prokofiev's immensely difficult Piano Sonata No 8, performed from memory. This was followed by a lecture from Mikhail analysing the main features of the piece, and the anti-war philosophy behind it. The piece was written in the dying days of the Second World War and it was moving to see an ex-student going forth into the wide world which such confidence.
